Set up your brand

Add your logo, colors, fonts and tagline so your pages and website look like you.

Who can do this: Owners and admins

Your brand kit holds five things: your logo, your colors, your fonts, your tagline and mission, and the shape of your buttons. Set them once and supporters see the same organization on every page you publish.

Before you start

  • Have your logo as a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF file of up to 4 MB. SVG files aren't accepted, so if your logo is an SVG, save a copy as a PNG first. A PNG with a transparent background looks right on any color.
  • Only owners and admins can change the brand kit.

Answer the five questions

  1. In the sidebar, go to Brand kit. The first time, Occam offers a short quickstart. Select Let's go.
  2. Answer each question, or select Skip this one. A live preview beside the questions updates as you go.
    • Logo: upload your logo. You can also add a Square icon, the small picture shown in a browser tab. With no logo, your name is shown instead.
    • Colors: your main color fills buttons, links and page headers. Pick one from your logo's colors, a popular choice or a hex code. Then pick an accent, or keep the one Occam suggests.
    • Fonts: choose one of ten pairings of a headline font and a reading font.
    • Tagline & mission: a few memorable words, and a sentence or two on who you serve and how. The mission can be up to 500 characters.
    • Shape: how rounded buttons and cards are, from Square to Pill.
  3. Select Continue after each question, and Finish after the last. Each answer is saved as you go.

If you leave partway with Skip the rest for now, the answers you've already given are kept.

Change your brand later

In the sidebar, go to Brand kit. Each answer has its own card. Select Edit (or Add for one you skipped), make your change and select Save. To go through all five questions again, select Walk me through it.

Your organization's name and web address aren't part of the brand kit. They're in Settings.

Where your brand shows up

  • Your logo and main color appear in the bar across the top of your donation, event, auction, pledge, membership, store and volunteer pages, and your public page.
  • Your tagline appears under your name on your public page, and is the description search engines and link previews show for it.
  • Your fonts, accent color, shape, mission and square icon are only used by your website. When you start a website, it begins in your brand, with your tagline and mission written into its home page.

Emails, including receipts, don't use your logo or colors.

Your website doesn't update on its own

Changing your colors, fonts or shape in the brand kit doesn't change a website you've already built, so a live site never changes by surprise. When they differ, Brand kit shows Your website doesn't match yet.

To bring your website up to date:

  1. In the sidebar, go to Website and open Brand & style.
  2. Select Use my brand kit.
  3. Select Publish changes.

Your logo is the exception: change it in the brand kit and your website's header changes too. Your tagline and mission are copied into the website's text only when it's first created, so after that, edit them on the website itself. See Edit your website.
