Finish setting up your organization

If Occam left your organization's name and web address to you, choose them the first time you sign in.

When Occam creates your organization, it may leave the name and web address for you to choose. If it did, that's the first thing you'll do when you sign in, and nobody on your team can open the dashboard until it's done.

Before you start

Only the owner can finish setup. Your invitation email will say you've been invited to set up your organization.
If your organization requires two-step verification, you'll set up an authenticator app first. See Set up two-step verification.

Choose your name and web address

Open the link in your invitation and sign in. Occam opens Set up your organization.
Type your Organization name, up to 100 characters. This is the name supporters see on your pages.
Check the Web address. Occam fills it in from your name, and you can change it. The line underneath shows the full address, such as riverside-food-bank.occam.gives.
Select Finish setup.

Occam then opens your brand kit and offers five quick questions about your logo, colors, fonts, tagline and shape. Answer them now, or select Skip for now to go straight to your dashboard. See Set up your brand.

Web address rules

Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. As you type, capitals become lowercase, and spaces and other characters become hyphens.
It can be up to 50 characters long. A hyphen at the start or the end is removed.
Your donation pages, your public page and your website all live at this address, so pick something short that people will recognize.

If you see an error

That address is reserved. Please choose another. Some words are kept for Occam's own pages, such as give, donate, events, store, help and www. Add your town or another word, like give-riverside.
That address is already taken. Another organization uses it, or used it in the past. Old addresses are never handed to someone else, so this one can't be freed up. Try a variation.
Couldn't reach the server. Check your connection and try again. Select Finish setup again once you're back online.

What the rest of your team sees

Anyone else Occam invited sees Almost ready when they sign in, with a note that the owner is still choosing the name and web address. They can't open anything until you finish. After that, refreshing the page takes them to the dashboard.

Good to know

You can change the name and the web address later in Settings. If you change the address, links that use the old one keep working.
