A fundraising goal adds up what you raise across your income, not just one campaign: "we've raised this much this year towards our goal". You choose what counts, and you can show it on your website as a bar or a classic thermometer, with milestones for what each amount pays for.
Create a goal
- In the sidebar, go to Goals and select New goal.
- Fill in The goal:
- Name appears above the thermometer on your website, so make it something supporters recognise, like "2026 Workcamp".
- Target (USD) is the amount you're aiming for.
- Count money received: This fiscal year (it follows the year start in your accounting settings), This calendar year, or Between two dates. A goal set to a year moves on by itself when the new year starts.
- Under What counts towards it, tick the kinds of income to include: donations, event tickets and RSVPs, store sales, auction wins and membership dues.
- To leave out a particular campaign, event or auction, choose it under Leave out and select Leave out. Nothing from it counts, whatever is ticked.
- Optionally, add Milestones: an amount and what it pays for, such as $500 for "Our trip". They're shown along the thermometer and marked as reached.
- Select Create goal.
The goal's page then shows Raised so far, split by kind of income, and the dates being counted.
What counts, and when
- Money that has been received, less any refunds. A gift refunded in part counts what was kept.
- Gifts you record by hand count on the date you typed in, not the day you entered them.
- Event tickets count when they're bought. Money paid at the door counts when you record it on the Check-In screen.
- Pledges and grants count only when their money arrives as a gift.
- Card payments taken on the event-day point-of-sale screen aren't recorded anywhere yet, so they can't count.
Show it on your website
- Open the website builder and add a Fundraising goal section to a page. See Edit your website.
- Under Which goal, choose your goal. Most recent goal always shows the newest one.
- Choose a Style: Bar, with milestone pins or Classic thermometer. The colours follow your site's theme.
- Optionally change the button, which links to your giving page to start with.
- Publish your site.
The total on your website catches up within a minute of a new gift. Visitors see only the total, never who gave or the individual amounts.
Good to know
- You can have several goals at once, for example one for the year and one for a single drive, and show each in its own section.
- Deleting a goal doesn't touch any gifts or orders. A website section showing it goes blank until you choose another goal. Only owners and admins can delete goals.
